What is the Teen Reader’s Choice Award?
Our annual Teen Reader’s Choice Award is a literary program designed for young adult readers. This is the fifteenth year for our popular program that fosters the love of pleasure reading and encourages meaningful conversation about the chosen books.
Research has shown that reading for pleasure exercises the imagination, advances literacy, develops social skills, improves one’s health and positively impacts learning outcomes. It is for these reasons that library staff is passionate about this program.
How are the books chosen?
The first year of the TRCA, the top ten books were nominated by students. From 2013 until 2024 each year’s TRCA books were chosen by a committee comprised of CCRCE Library Services staff. The committee considered critical reviews, readers’ reviews, and the books’ performances on well-respected awards lists as part of the decision making process. In 2025 Top Ten titles consisted of student nominations (5) and committee chosen new and well-reviewed releases (5). After careful consideration, the 2026 TRCA Committee has decided that the Top Ten list for 2026 will consist of committee chosen new, best-selling, and/or well-reviewed releases.
The 2026 TRCA titles are as pictured in the following poster.

Members of the 2026 TRCA Committee are: Janet Salo, Joann Carter, Martha Langille, Matt Cole, and Myrna Allen
